Social Media: We revolve around it.

What is it? It’s just a word but all of us Act as slaves in front of the word. Why are we doing this to ourselves? It benefits some people but at contrary my friend it also harms in many ways. It may be beneficial for me because I can spread my content through social media, enlighten people and fill them knowledge. The most interesting fact is that I am spreading about social media through means of social media. I am literally addicted to social media and want to get rid of it but I can’t because you can’t turn back once you are into something. I am not supporting the use of social media. But I can’t leave it coz I am addicted to it. You can, friend. Well lets talk about some facts.

There have been many studies that have concluded that social media addiction is real. But it’s not just Facebook. There are over 2 billion Facebook users worldwide, about 500 million tweets are sent daily on Twitter, 95 million images are uploaded to Instagram daily and on YouTube, over 400 hours of video are uploaded per minute. Those figures alone should tell us something. In fact, all social media is addictive by design. Maximizing engagement is in their business model. The more time you spend scrolling and clicking, the better for business. The infinite newsfeed and notifications you receive are personalized to draw and keep you in. The more the advertiser has your attention, the more sales. And so on. The more you use it, the more contentment you get.

But, my friend you are a burger which is being eaten up by a junk food lover in this case. You are social media’s slave. The fact that I use social media also scares the hell out of me. I am posting my blog on social media because I can’t spread it through newspapers, I spread about my blog on Instagram because I can’t spread links with my hands. You. Yes you, if you could give me one good reason for using social media other then business, I’ll take my words back. Why are we spoiling our and the future generation’s future? We are giving them two options, either ton jump in the well or to drown in a lake. I can assure you technology and social media will take us places but will also become a disease which will affect lives of 99% people in the world. Those 1% will be the happiest ones and rest of them will always serve social media

Totally not ignoring the fact that I am spreading my views through social media!
